What did Apple show us at the April 20 presentation?

Apple unveiled several new devices during its “Spring Loaded” event on Tuesday, including an updated iPad Pro, iMacs and a set of Tile-like devices called AirTags.

Most of the devices will be available for order later this month and most will launch mid-May.

Among the new devices is an updated iPad Pro, which will feature a 12.9-inch model with Liquid Retina XDR Display and M1 processing chip, which they say will provide 50% faster processing performance than its predecessor.

The tech giant is also rolling out a new line of iMacs, taking inspiration from earlier models of its desktop computers and offering them in a variety of colors. The 24-inch iMacs will come in four colors: green, pink, blue and silver. A higher-end model with more powerful graphics processing comes in seven colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver.

Other devices announced on presentation:

  • Models of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini in purple.
  • An upgraded Apple TV 4K streaming device with new remote and color balance technology.
  • AirTags, which work similarly to Tile devices. Users can connect them to keys, backpacks or other items, and leverage the “Find My” app in case they get lost.

iPad Pro

Apple formally confirms the new iPad Pro, which will use the same M1 processing chip as the new iMacs. The Pro will deliver 75% faster processing than the original iPad. The new iPad Pro will also support controllers from the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X for playing iPad games. The new iPad Pro will also support 5G. The next iPad will also feature new studio mics, motion tracking, and an upgraded camera system. It will also feature a TrueDepth front camera to support face ID and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. The iPad will also boast a 12.9-inch liquid retina XDR display.

Apple boasts how quickly iMacs can open up apps, or move through browsers, or edit pictures and play games. The iMac’s new graphics processing is up to 50% faster compared to older models. Users can also run iPhone and iPad apps directly on the iMac. Calls and texts from iPhone can also show up on iMac, and its universal clipboard lets a user copy something from their phone and paste from their iMac. The computers will also have two Thunderbird ports and a new power connector that connects magnetically. The iMac will also support fresh accessories including upgraded keyboards, a touch pad, and mouse.

Apple TV 4K

Apple unveils the AirTag

AirTag

AirTag is a gadget similar to a Tile that users can attach to items like a keychain, backpack, or even a stuffed animal. It’s a small, silver disc with the Apple logo. It leverages the company’s “Find My” tool so users can quickly find it. The software for AirTag uses precision finding to better assist you in finding a lost item.
