2) The first Apple logo and name idea

It is true that the Apple Rainbow logo is the most famous Apple logo, but the first Apple logo looked completely different. The first logo depicts Sir Isaac Newton sitting under an apple tree with an apple “falling” on his head. (Legend has it that an apple literally fell on his head, and it was this fact that prompted the idea of establishing a law of law of universal gravitation).

The Newton logo was created by Ronald Wayne, the lesser-known founder of Apple (he sold his stake to Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak for $ 800). The Newton logo was used only in 1976. The Apple Rainbow logo developed by Rob Janoff replaced the Sir Isaac logo and remained a symbol of the company for many years until it was replaced by the simpler monochrome apple logo in 1998.

The name Apple’s idea belongs to Steve Jobs himself. The reason for Apple’s name was shrouded in mystery, but in reality, it was just the fruit that Jobs liked and named the company after the “fruit.”

3) Why are the headphones only one color – white?

Apple manufactures a variety of hardware for iPhones and iMacs, but its headphones are only available in one color – white. The reason why the company made such a decision lies in the fact that – white is an important part of Apple’s identification as a brand. Apple headphones are white because they are unique and easily distinguishable from other company accessories.

The idea came when Apple released the first iPod that needed a headset. Because the iPod was small in size, it was decided to have a white headset that would be eye-catching and memorable.

4) Why not name the Apple Watch – iWatch?

With the Apple Watch, Apple has broken with its tradition of putting an “i” in front of new products. When the first speculation arose about the smartwatch created by Apple, it was thought that the device would be called the Apple iWatch. Against the background of other products like Apple iPhone, Apple iPad and Apple iPod. It was a big surprise when Apple introduced the Apple Watch.

The real reason for this is that at a time when the Apple Watch was still in development, Apple had legal problems with the so-called Apple Watch. The registered trademark rights of “iWatch” already belonged to others:

  • An American company called OMG Electronics;
  • The developer named Probend from Ireland, which owned rights for the entire EU;
  • Unknown company from China.

So if Apple had used the iWatch name, a troubling and, above all, costly legal dispute would have been inevitable. This is not the first time in the history of Apple. For example, at the time Apple started making iPhones, Cisco was already producing a product called the “iPhone.” Apple bought the product name rights from this company. Apple also had to buy the iPad name from one of the Chinese companies for about $60 million in order to be able to sell the iPad under that name in the region.

Many companies have benefited from this fact and provided a variety of products starting with the ‘i’. Apple tried to get the trademark rights for “i” but failed because no one alone will be able to own the copyright to the letter “i”.

Because of this fact, Apple simply had to use a word to which it was already entitled – “Apple”. That’s why we only know the Apple Watch today – not the iWatch. Probably for this reason it is Apple’s set-top box called Apple TV and not iTV – Steve Jobs actually introduced iTV in 2006.
